Gas Fires There are many types of gas fires available, some requiring chimneys, Class 1, or Class 2 flues, others operate where no chimney exists and are known as balanced flue, or fan flue fires. The installation of all gas appliances is now covered by law and administered by an organisation known as CORGI. All Installers must now be registered to undertake this work and must be able to demonstrate that they have passed a test to prove their competence. This is known as ACOPS. Unfortunately to further complicate matters ACOPS certification is required to install gas fires separately to other gas appliances, such as central heating boilers, and again for servicing. In order to assist the Householder identity cards are now produced to demonstrate that the Individual you have employed has been certified to undertake the specific installation.
